</p><p> I'm brand new to this forum and finally decided to make a post here after attempting to make sense of some of this stuff myself to no avail. I've been a huge fan of S;G for quite some time, watched both anime series, and just recently finished playing the first VN. Before I really get into any of the other VNs, I wanted to make sense of a few things that I've been unable to figure out myself.</p><p>
</p><p>I'm not sure how active this forum is, but if any of you folk would like to chime in here with your thoughts and theories I would greatly appreciate it!</p><p>
</p><p>First off, I just wanted to say that my best understanding of the S;G universe is that there is one active worldline at a time, and that time loops can occur, though will always have a traceable origin (ie no bootstrap paradoxes or infinite causal loops) - I found Zeldakasumi's blog post helpful in developing some of my understanding of S;G's time travel mechanics, and will link that below.</p><p>
</p><p>-My first question regards the major time loop in the series - okabe seeing a bloodied kurisu, sending the first d-mail, traveling through alpha and back, killing kurisu, repeat. I was wondering how this loop would have started - would the first iteration involve Dr. Nakabachi killing kurisu and okabe still finding her body due to convergence? Is there even a start to this loop?</p><p>
</p><p>-The okabe that kills kurisu in chapter 1 isn't the same okabe that we follow throughout the story, is he? This is another okabe from a previous iteration, correct? The divergence numbers would seem to imply that. If so, is the okabe who kills kurisu in ch. 1 also the okabe from S;G 0 (or 0kabe, as I'll call him)? Or is 0kabe and the okabe we follow the same person up until mayuri slaps/doesn't slap him?</p><p>
</p><p>-Speaking of 0kabe, how is the video d-mail he sends able to be received by the okabe who makes it to the steins gate? Perhaps a better question would be, why is the message originally all messed up?</p><p>
</p><p>-Now I have a few questions regarding suzuha - she mentions that physical time travel causes a fluctuation in the worldline they arrive on - does this fluctuation occur when traveling both forward and backwards through time, or just when traveling forwards?</p><p>
</p><p>-My second suzuha question is about alpha suzuha - we see that alpha suzuha comes from the worldline where the divergence meter was originally built - 0.000000. What I don't understand is how this worldline was ever active in the first place. Is it from a previous iteration of the loop that I mentioned in my first question?</p><p>
</p><p>-Assuming that all the alpha suzuhas we see are all from 0.000000, then what happens to the suzuhas in the future of every alpha line - do they travel back, too? If so, where do they go? </p><p>
</p><p>-suzuha also mentions how her time machine comes equipped with a physical coordinate lock so she doesnt end up floating around in space when she travels back - do we ever figure out how the phonewave/time leap machine are able to avoid this problem when SERN isnt?</p><p>

Yes, Nakabachi would've originally been the very first time Kurisu was stabbed before it was Okabe every time afterwards
0kabe and Okabe are almost the exact same, but their worldlines are slightly different because in the worldline Okabe came from, Suzuha from the end of SG 0 would have been the Suzuha present, while a very similar Suzuha was present in 0kabe's worldline. The difference between these Suzuha's is that Okabe's Suzuha knows about the ND video, while 0kabe's Suzuha does not (but the ND did still arrive for him). To answer the question, they weren't the same person up until any point because of the different Suzuha that arrived in 1975. Both Okabes were always minutely different.
I've heard that the video had "worldline compression system" which is never elaborated on. It was sent from 2025 to July 2010, the day Kurisu was stabbed. It was unlocked and viewable after Okabe had to experience stabbing Kurisu himself.
I can't really answer the next questions because either I don't know either or they're based off another theory which disagrees with the theory I believe.
I can't edit my post but anyway, correction on #2: 0kabe did not recieve the ND.
And about #3: 'Worldline Compression System' from what I've gathered, the ND was sent to many possible worldlines and is only viewable in 1 (likely non canon because that makes no sense)

I'm really Confused after just watching the episode 9 that Why is the IBN5100 really so important?? If Daru managed to hack SERN without it anyway? in this episode, kurisu talks about CERNs inability to send people corporealy into the past -- something she shouldn't know, given that in the current worldline, they do not have the ibn 5100 and haven't deciphered CERNs messages? is this a mistake?
@Mehaboob The IBN wasn't needed to hack into Sern, they could read that stuff without it. The IBN was to be able to decode and read other parts aswell as being needed to delete the first dmail. They couldn't have moved back to Beta without the IBN.

As I'm working on a paper RPG, I am watching Steins;Gate and playing it for the third time, and I am almost convinced there were way more iterations between alpha & beta than we can imagine.
Attractor fields are supposed to counterbalance the chaos theory, and make little changes have little consequences, and the main events are remaining to occur.
But the convergence point of July 2010 made something unprecedented in the History of the universe (presumably): it made the time itself oscillating between three (or more?) stable worldlines from two different attractor fields.
At first, a beta worldline, where Nakabashi killed Kurisu and start WW3. Then, trying to change the past to prevent Nakabashi from stealing the paper to Kurisu Makise, Suzuha made the alpha worldline: D-mail are sent, SERN captures Kurisu Makise and Rintaro Okabe, the 300 dominate the world. Suzuha came back to 2010 and made the Nakabashi conference cancelled. Thus creating the first stable alpha worldline (alpha is generating alpha), but in this worldline, Okarin & Daru figured out they needed the IBN 2010 to prevent the SERN from tracking them, and they added this to Suzuha's mission.
Suzuha came back one again, gave the IBN to the FGL, and this led to come back to the beta worldline. Erasing all progresses, those three worldlines are doomed to repeat.
And it did repeat all over again. What would have changed that? The universe was stucked, oscilating between three positions. In those cases, an instable equilibrium could be found, and this is Steins;Gate. In order to reach this equilibrium, one has to developp Reading Steiner. Okabe did, maybe because he was each time chosen by Suzuha to help him save Kurisu, and stabbed the woman he loved over and over again. This trauma, associated with regular time travel created the Reading Steiner effect.
Another theory that I have about this Reading Steiner is the weird video Rintaro received. Maybe lost in this cosmic loop, they were piling up more and more research on the subject, and founded a way to trigger Reading Steiner (or more likely to enhance the natural ability each human have) in Rintaro. This ability made him able to break the loop, at the price of a high suffering.

First of which, why would it need to be the Alpha or Beta worldline Suzuha's when we know she will be in the Steins;Gate worldline as well?
Second of which, if two of one person can exist due to time travel why limit it to only two, why not three or more?
Lastly, who do you think started this whole crazy time travel heart string pulling show in the first place, he literally references it constantly and others do it because of Him.
