I watched this anime twice. First release order, then chronological.

Being honest, chronological as listed above was much better. The flow of the story and emotional impact from episode to episode was not stunted and did not end on a middling note like the release order. It felt so much more rewarding watching it in chronological order (and the story doesn't alter or get spoilt in any way).

As for the games, if playing after the anime, release order should be fine, you'll be getting more details in the games too about the world and characters.
