Eisuke Urushibara (漆原 栄輔, Urushibara Eisuke?) is the Chief Priest of the Yanabayashi Shrine and the father of Luka Urushibara and his older sister. On some of the Alpha world lines, he was entrusted an IBN 5100 by Yukitaka Akiha around the year 2001. Eisuke seems to treat Luka like a girl regardless of the world line and makes him work as a shrine maiden for the shrine.
Appearance[]
Eisuke is a tall, middle aged man with black hair, square glasses and pink eyes. He is commonly seen wearing shrine priest clothing. According to Rintaro Okabe, he has the looks of a saint.
Personality[]
As described by Rintaro Okabe, he is a gentle and respectable man with a gentle smile, but who simultaneously displays the habits of Itaru Hashida. Okabe even suspects him to be a pervert, as he encourages Luka to wear feminine clothing and to learn the ceremonial miko dance. He does not get along well with his older daughter and according to Luka, he gets "strange" whenever only family members are around.
Background[]
When Eisuke was younger he was part of a rock band.
Sometime, he became father to Luka's older sister, who turned out boyish and who is today described as the polar opposite of Luka. Eisuke raised Luka as a girl and he and his older daughter often made him wear feminine clothing. Eisuke also made him help out at the shrine as a miko maiden and, during the events of Steins;Gate, still refuses to teach him about the priesthood since he still has "30 years of work" left in him. He adores his son and wants him to make friends.
Around the year 2001, on many of the Alpha world lines, an IBN 5100 was entrusted to his shrine. The owner told him that if a man ever were to ask for the IBN 5100, he should give it and the owner's blessings to him.
After the Gero Froggy craze in 2009, Eisuke got a box of Gero Froggies and wanted to give them to Luka, who accepted them reluctantly.
Plot[]
Steins;Gate[]
Eisuke is first seen when Luka distraught goes to ask him if an IBN 5100 ever was entrusted to the Yanabayashi Shrine. He calms his son down and barely manages to bring the IBN 5100 to Rintaro Okabe and Luka due to its heavy weight. He tells Okabe he can borrow it from him, but that he himself cannot assist in carrying it to the Future Gadget Lab as he has to attend a neighbourhood assembly.
Later, on another world line, when Okabe is looking for the IBN 5100 at the Yanabayashi Shrine and asks Eisuke, Eisuke cannot find it even though he was certain that there was one. Unbeknown to Eisuke, Luka had accidentally broken and hidden it while cleaning.
Steins;Gate 0[]
In the Beta Attractor Field, Kagari Shiina is referred to the Yanabayashi Shrine by an acquaintance of Eisuke to figure out her memories and to have a place to stay at for the time being.

- Eisuke's surname Urushibara means "lacquer/lacker, varnish" (漆) (urushi) and "field, plain" (原) (hara/bara).
