In the Alpha Attractor Field, SERN attempts to develop a functional time machine with the goal of using it to for the purpose of world domination.
Early Attempts[]
For some time prior to the founding of the Future Gadget Lab, SERN had been attempting to create a time machine. However, all attempts failed due to the compression of matter and the difficulty in planning a safe "Landing Zone" with a lifter leading to the test subjects emerging gelified, and sometimes merged with solid objects.
Under the "Mother of Time Travel"[]
After the capture of Makise Kurisu and the prototype Time Leap Machine by Rounders, development of their own machine greatly sped up, allowing them to complete their goal of world domination.
Behind The Scenes[]
The SERN time machine is never seen, however its influence is felt throughout the original series, with multiple character's fates tied to its creation, development, and/or destruction.
It is unknown if the successful time machine used by SERN is capable of full "true time travel", like FG204. Certain scenes imply that it is merely a hyper-advanced version of the Time Leap Machine, while others imply its usage as a full scale machine.
